Top Five: Body Care Favorites

My skin already leans dry, but this time of year it can get a bit crazy. Now that we’re almost through the depths of winter, I thought it was a good opportunity to share some of my favorite body care products for keeping my skin smooth, soft, and nourished.

ShaveWorks The Cool Fix Β ($21.00/10ml @ Sephora) – If you tend to break out or get ingrown hairs after waxing your brows or upper lip, this little guyΒ is just for you. A soothing, skin resurfacing and conditioning treatment in a convenient rollerball stick, I apply this all over my brow area and upper lip after waxing (and for the next few days). It calms the skin and has done a great job of curbing post-wax breakouts and ingrown hairs. There is a larger format tube for bikini and other larger waxed areas available too, but I haven’t tried that one yet.

Not gonna lie, I half bought this just to see how much of a gimmick it was, but my skin was so well behaved after waxing earlier this month! 🐌 I used @shaveworks The Cool Fix lip & brow formula (it's a rollerball style applicator) around my eyebrows for three days after waxing and not a single ingrown hair or clogged pore in sight. πŸ”¬ Glycerin and sodium hyaluronate soothe the skin, while salicylic and glycolic acids gently exfoliate to keep skin smooth and clear, highly recommend to anyone prone to redness, ingrown hairs, or other post-waxing issues. Pretty damn impressed. 🐝 #makeup #makeupnerdery #makeupaddict #makeuplover #skincare #shaveworks #brows #waxing #hairremoval #skincarescience #science #glycerin #humectant #BHA #AHA #chemicalexfoliant #cool #photography #photooftheday #igdaily #beautyblogger #blogger #blog #bbloggers #smoothskin #browsonpoint

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wash ($25.00/16oz / Ulta) – I have had pretty strong allergies most of my life, but the last few years my itchy skin has driven me absolutely mad. This past year I finally started investigating the ingredients my products had in common and stumbled upon sodium lauryl sulfate and all its buddies – it’s a cheap surfactant that isn’t inherently evil, but can cause dry and itchy skin for those who are sensitive to it. This body wash is definitely pricey, but it’s one of the best sulfate-free products I’ve tried and it leaves my skin feeling soothed and clean instead of itchy and dry.
